All of these things contian some sort of potein that you need for your body to maintain a healthy statis.  The reason why these foods are important. In most survival situations you are burning more calories than normal and you will reach exhaustion quickly within a couple days without food. There is rarely enough plants, berrries, nuts, etc. to provide the estimated 3000 - 6000 calories your body may need, and so fish and meat usually become the main solution. Without calories almost everyone becomes lethargic, uncaring, and hopeless, usually sooner than later.
